Deities (Day-ii-teez)
Deities are supreme beings such as gods, goddesses, certain monsters, spirits, etc. They are either of high respect or worship, and they are extremely powerful and have certain control, much strength, or will over some elements/objects. The god Zeus would be a sky deity because he has dominion over the sky and lightning, and he is a god. Something like Polyphemus wouldn't be considered a deity because, though it is a powerful monster, it has no special control over anything, and it is not held with high regards or praise.
